Hiking to the Vajolet towers at the Rosengarten/Catinaccio. An impressive hike to the Vajolet towers in the nature park Rosengarten-Schlern, the famous bizarre climbing towers at Rosengarten.
We take a shuttle bus from Pera di Fassa to Gardeccia. From there we hike at a moderate pace in about 1 hour through the impressive wild Vajolet valley at Rosengarten/Catinaccio to the Rifugio Preuss. From here, you can watch the climbers climbing the opposite east side of the Rosengarten on difficult routes all the way up to the Rosengartenspitze. It is easy to admire their courage - though we reckon very few of us would actually want to be in that spot. After a short rest we climb over the secured ascent, which rises between black porphyry rocks and in about 50 minutes leads us to the Rifugio Re Alberto in the Rosengarten. Then we suddenly reach the bizarre rock formation of the three majestic Southern Vajolet towers in the Dolomites. There it's time to queue – since there are climbers, who, depending on ability, either climb the very difficult Delagoturm, the Stabelerturm or the lighter Winklerturm. The "Gartl" with its tiny blue mountain lake, which lies in a giant cavern of sand and rocky rocks, spreads its magical and soothing atmosphere. A true haven, which lets you forget all the crowds of hikers. After a well deserved break, we hike at a speedy pace in about 20 minutes to the 2,741m.a.s. Santnerpass in Rosengarten, enjoy the view back to the Vajolet towers and to the south to the Latemar, all the way from Schwarzhorn and Weisshorn, to the Brenta and Ortler group. Our wonderful hiking day in the Dolomites has reached its climax. Blessed are our mountains.
